Middle school welcomes students at the end of primary school (elementary). They follow four years of schooling: Year 6, 7, 8, 9 ( AU) / Year 7, 8, 9, 10 (NZ).
These four years prepare them for the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) exam at the end of Year 9 / Year 10. This diploma is awarded by the French Ministry of National Education. At Lycée Jean-Marie Gustave LE CLEZIO, we provide students with all the knowledge, skills, know-how, and personal qualities needed to succeed in their education and to become future responsible citizens.

LEARNINIG CONSOLIDATION
In the French educational system, students’ schooling is organised into cycles. Year 6/7 is the final year of Cycle 3, which began in CM1 and CM2. It is designed to help students adapt to the organisation and environment of middle school, ensure continuity of the learning initiated in CM1 and CM2, and introduce students to the subjects and methods specific to secondary education (high school).
Cinquième, Quatrième et Troisième : Year 7, 8, 9 (AU) / Year 8, 9, 10 (NZ)
Cycle 4: Learning Deepening and Expanding
Cycle 4 : Learning Deepening and Expanding, includes the classes of Year 7, 8 and 9 (AU) / Year 8, 9 and 10 (NZ). It allows students to develop their knowledge and skills across different subject areas. Each student progressively prepares, including through various educational pathways (Future prospects, Citizenship, Artistic and Cultural Education, Health), for their future tertiary studies and eventual integration into the economic and professional world. The goal is to enable students to develop competencies in various subjects as well as in cross-disciplinary pathways.
Year 9 (AU) / 10 (NZ) provides as well an opportunity for students to participate in a period of observation of the professional world (internship in companies).
