International French schools week

« Citizens, equal and united: French education to meet the challenges of tomorrow »: this is the theme of the fourth edition of the Week of International French schools which took place from November 30 to December 5th, 2020. At the French school in Port Vila, teaching citizenship and solidarity, equality between girls and boys, equality between all students in an inclusive spirit are values ​​that are put forward daily in our teaching, from kindergarten to 12th grade. At the end of the school year and echoing the week of Inernational French schools around the world, we offer you a little non-exhaustive review of some civic actions carried out in this 2020 school year.

Teaching citizenship and solidarity:

– Several solidarity actions have been carried out:

« Sunny Aelan Day (aid to the victims of Cyclone Harold in cooperation with the Alliance française and the NDMO) and » Sunny Ha Eun Day « (help to » evacuate « an injured final year student).

– Various actions to combat bullying at school. – « We write on the steps »: the pupils chose words relating to values ​​dear to them, and wrote them on the risers of an outdoor staircase. – “We draw on the walls”: the pupils wrote an important message for the pupils, encouraging them to do their best, to improve every day and to give the best of themselves. So that the children can express themselves, two blackboards have been added in the elementary schoolyard.

– Youth Parliament – Vanuatu 2020 (in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the National Parliament of Vanuatu)

– The official ceremony of November 11, in which some students participated.

– The day for the planet, in order to develop an eco-citizen consciousness.

– The waste collection project on the beaches.

– The school newspaper.

– Participation in the « one language to another » project on civic values ​​(AEFE project)

– Participation in the Rotarians Against Malaria competition: (first prize to our team!)

– The many common sports activities (sports day in primary school, cross country in cycles 3 and 4, etc.)

Equality between girls and boys:

– 2nd prize in the Matilda contest: « Buzzons contre le sexisme » 2019-2020.

– Awareness activities on the day against violence against women in primary and secondary school.

– Promotion of the “Important woman blong Vanuatu” container mural   (explanatory panel)

Equality between all students in an inclusive spirit:

– Awareness activities on day against homophobia on May 17th

– Fundraising for a blind CP student, in order to help him pay his tuition fees and the purchase of specific materials.

It is also on a daily basis that projects are carried out within the classes to convey the values of the AEFE network which are important to us, and which we will continue to defend at the start of the 2021 school year!
