Purchase of the MOM group by the BEL group: Pom’Potes and Cow laughing together soon?

Cheese AND dessert. This will now be the menu of the BEL group, the cheese maker as famous as The Laughing Cow, Boursin, Babybel, Leerdammer or Apéricube. The family business is about to take control of the compote and dessert company MOM, known for its brands Pom’Potes, Materne and Mont Blanc. At the end of July, the two groups had initiated negotiations to conclude the buy-out, which stipulates that the family-owned company BEL will own 65% of the company’s compotes and desserts, with the makers of the compotes holding the remaining 35%. The agreement was signed Friday, July 29, 2016 and announced Monday, August 1, 2016 by the BEL group. The amount of the transaction amounts to 850 million euros.
Over the years, BEL has become the world’s number three branded cheese, with a turnover of 2.9 billion euros in 2015.
The MOM group, with a turnover of 362 million euros in 2015, has doubled in size in five years. It employs 1,300 people in four plants, two in France and two in the United States.

MOM will be able to accelerate its growth thanks to the means of the BEL group which diversifies its activities to become essential in the sector of « healthy snacking ». So much so that the BEL group will be able to increase its turnover thanks to the products already known and greatly appreciated by the MOM group.
