History

40 years in the service of students

The Lycée de Port Vila was created in 1981, just after the independence of this archipelago consisting of 83 islands and comprising a total of 235 000 inhabitants. This creation met the demand of many parents. Under the impetus of the principal at the time, Mr. Jean-Louis Debadie and the parents of students, the primary school that existed at the time of the condominium was able to continue to function and apply the French programs. In 1987, a class of 6 ° and a class of 5 ° were created.

DSC03115Year after year, the students inaugurated each new section and finally, in 1992, the students of the French high school in Port Vila were the first to obtain their baccalaureate. Seven students were received this year and since then, several hundred bachelors have graduated in our school. To better welcome the students, the Lycée has continued to develop: construction of new classes, creation of several computer rooms, extension of kindergarten in new premises with a spacious motor home, sports hall, CDI (Documentation and Information Centre), renovation of the administrative center and the science halls.

Now, French/English bilingualism is at the heart of our pedagogical project. We also develop the learning of other languages with Spanish and the introduction of Chinese in 2011. More than ever, schooling at the French high school in Port Vila is synonymous with demand and quality.
