L’Oréal and Poietis sign an exclusive research collaboration to bio-print hair

September 28, 2016

L’oréal, world leader in cosmetics (25.26 billion euros in sales and 82,900 employees worldwide), has just signed an exclusive research collaboration contract with the Bordeaux startup Poietis (22 employees) specializing in bio laser-assisted biological tissue printing.

The goal of this partnership is to print a hair follicle that produces hair with a bio-printer!

The reproduction of the cells of the organ that makes the hair would allow L’Oréal to better understand the growth of the hair, its aging and its fall.

Hair loss affects more than 66% of men, 38% of whom become bald, in other words, millions of potential consumers for L’Oréal.
